Area of investigation: I am going to research and look at how the roles that Tom Hanks' plays within films, changes according to the genres of that film.

Forrest Gump is a 1994 American comedy-drama film based on the 1986 novel of the same name by Winston Groom. The film was directed by Robert Zemeckis, The story depicts several decades in the life of Forrest Gump, a simple Alabama man who travels across the world, sometimes meeting historical figures, influencing popular culture, and experiencing firsthand historic events of the late 20th century.

Big is a 1988 American romantic comedy film about a boy who makes a wish "to be big" to a magical fortune-telling machine and is then aged to adulthood overnight.

Saving Private Ryan (Ron Howard, 1984)
Saving Private Ryan is a 1998 American war film set during the invasion of Normandy in World War II. The film is notable for the intensity of its opening 27 minutes, which show the Omaha Beachhead assault of June 6, 1944. Afterwards, it follow Tom Hanks as Captain John H. Miller and several men as they search for Paratrooper Private James Francis Ryan, who is the last surviving brother of three servicemen.
